The Clean Energy Resource Teams (CERTs) are made up of community members across Minnesota whose goal is to foster strong communities, create local jobs and develop clean and reliable energy from wind, biomass and solar power, as well as increase energy conservation.
CERTs came to Triangle Park Creative because their website wasn’t keeping up with their needs. Navigation was difficult, the site wasn’t able to handle expansion and they needed a friendly content management system to publish high volumes of information.
Because CERTs’ audience consisted of a wide range of users, their site also needed information to be located with ease and the user’s experience to be intuitive and enriching.
Triangle Park met with key members of the CERTs team and worked extensively with them to develop the following:
- Restructured and created a new sitemap
- Redesigned the site to reflect CERTs’ new identity
- Created an extended color palette for their new identity
- Added the content management system Drupal
- Added a blog to increase the information flow
- Created a project planning section to support up-and-coming community projects
- Added an “Ask an Expert” function so users received quality answers and advice.
- Built in an event registration system for the annual conference and other events
CERTs launched in April of 2008 and has had its main goal realized: to make their information transparent and accessible.
