
A strong year of success and growth was a principle component of our approach to the Latino Economic Development Center’s (LEDC) 2005 annual report. LEDC had begun to establish itself as an important asset in the Minneapolis Latino business community and wanted their annual report to illustrate that fact.
Triangle Park Creative had two challenges in the production of LEDC’s annual report: First, LEDC was still a relatively new organization, and it had not had the opportunity to develop a body of identity collateral to inform the annual report’s design. Secondly, as stewards in the Latino business community, it was imperative that the annual report be bilingual.
Utilizing the banded color block from LEDC’s identity, Triangle Park produced a stepped page layout that emphasized the individual colors of the band. The stepped page is mirrored on the reverse side of the report, which can be read by flipping the report over. Flipped one way, the report is in English; the other way, in Spanish. The combination of the dual stepped design produced a pyramid-like page layout. The visual approach of the pyramid was mirrored in the internal page design, creating a cohesive and sophisticated design.
The end result of our collaboration with LEDC is an annual report that integrates LEDC’s dedication to community betterment and its growth in a design that is both elegant and functional.
