CGSI promotes Czechoslovak genealogical research and interest among people with ancestry in the Czechoslovak region as it was in 1918, including families of Czech, Bohemian, Moravian, Slovak, German, Hungarian, Jewish, Rusyn, and Silesian origin.
CGSI has close to 3,000 members from across the US, Canada and the Czech and Slovak Republics. Members can post and read messages regarding research, family names, place names where family lived, or resources for other researchers. Members also have access to online databases of immigration passenger lists and the Archdiocese of Saint Paul MN Church Records.
The organization also has an extensive library collection that can be accessed in person at the Minnesota Genealogical Society Library in South St. Paul, as well as a traveling library and lending library.
