Jewish Community Action

Since 1995, Jewish Community Action has been uniting Jews throughout Minnesota in pursuit of social and economic justice. JCA members are diverse in their backgrounds and traditions, coming together in the spirit of tikkun olam to build a better community and a more just world.

Addressing issues that shape the lives of people throughout the Twin Cities area, JCA uses work groups—members interested in researching and developing specific strategies on specific issues—as well as constituency groups, such as new Americans from the former Soviet Union, youth, and affiliated and unaffiliated Jews, in a pragmatic approach to social change.

JCA brings a distinct Jewish voice to the fight for justice, honoring the memory of parents and grandparents who battled similar adversity to build a future. By addressing community problems at their roots, and helping people to help themselves, JCA follows the teachings of 12th-century scholar Moses Maimonides, who said that the highest form of giving is to provide the tools to prevent poverty.
