Along with an assignment to refine the design, color palette and fonts accompanying the Eldercare Partners logo, we were asked to help convert an older website to a content management platform, with many new areas of functionality.
An entirely new look was adopted as we designed the interface itself. A great deal of time, theirs and ours, went into the initial phase of collaboratively reorganizing the site on our Drupal web-based wireframe environment. This allowed one of the key content providers/editors the opportunity to experience and shape content real-time in a setting that simulated the future site navigation experience. It also gave her practice in loading content and interacting with the Drupal administrative interface, key to her becoming a savvy manager of content in the future.
One of the crucial functional components of the site is the calendar, which has — since the launch of the site — been chosen by all member organizations as the public calendar for their own events listing.
The new site has proved to be far easier to navigate than the old one. Fee schedules and sample paperwork are easily accessible and updatable, where that was not the case before.
We searched and provided all photos, carefully balancing the objectives of finding images that were not idealized or staged in appearance, conveying the reality and dignity of the lives of elder individuals and those who care for them while conveying a positive, hopeful tone.
